Regional transportation agencies are advancing a number of rail projects in Del Mar. The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) is the lead planning agency on the railway, which is owned and operated by North County Transit District (NCTD). My client, an opponent to this project, requested a design to use during a SANDAG protest at Del Mar city hall. He wanted to convey the potential consequences of drilling a hole through the sensitive Del Mar bluffs, while also communicating the risk of pollution. He provide his vision with these sketches, which I then took to vectorizing.

Sketching Process and Logo Variations
The client loved the variations, and suggested adding smoke coming out of the train to really sell the potential pollutants the train will extract on these Del Mar homes. With the cracks coming out of the tunnel, the smoke, and the unattractive freight train, the client was satisfied with getting his point across.
